Sinful Colors - Blue By You

| | Comments: (8)

BLUE!

This dates from last summer, and this blue it's perfect for summmertime...

1. It's BRIGHT and vibrant °_°

2. It has the colour of the sea *_*

3. It has aqua shimmer and a foil finish, just like a sparkling plain ocean ♥_♥

King-Octopus ring fits nicely, eh? :D

Don't ask me about how many coats I used, because I can't remember it, let's say the usual two to three?

I love foil-like nailpolishes, they're beautiful even in lowlight or in the evening, so deep ♥

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

Essence - Oh My Glitter! AND Sinful Colors - Rise And Shine

| | Comments: (9)

Hi all!

This time, two colours I didn't mix, or layered, just applied together :D

(outdoor)

Photo above is too washed out - don't know why - but if you own these colours, you know they're quite bright and saturated, and a little tricky to represent the actual hue...

"Oh My Glitter!" is a nice lilac with pink-violet-gold tiny glassflecks, and "Rise And Shine" is a grass green with a touch of blue - in some pics it's bluer than the reality.

(indoor)

I think I applied two coats of both colours, they're perfect and they didn't stain my nails.

(outdoor shade)

See the flecks in the lilac? ♥
"Rise And Shine" has a delicate mint shimmer in it, it makes the polish so full and creamy, love it!

Last new buyings of 2012

| | Comments: (8)

Looong post today... better start NOW :D

Sinful Colors!
Don't know why, but SC finally decided to import more interesting shades here in Italy, here's my first two picks:

Left: "Kissy", right "Blue By You".

I made some quick cap swatches and a little comparison:

1) "Blue By You"; in these pics, bottle shots is true to life: it's an electric blue base with turquoise, mmh, flecks? Don't know how to call this kind of shimmer, it's grainy. Instant love.

2) Essence "Choose Me!", compared with 3) "Kissy": they're very similar, as you can see "Choose Me!" is sparklier, that's why it looks greener. Maybe Probably you don't need both :D

Next, it's a great Pupa shade from their Déco Christmas collection:

This is n. 811, the "green" one, but as yu can see, it's not only green ♥

Since that I'm a true professional swatcher, I've even made a gif :D

(on the nails, Q by Colour Alike n. 118)

Golden-sage green to purply-bronze, how much awesome is that? Too much.

(almost sun)

Sinful Colors again :D
This is the famous "San Francisco":

Honestly, this is simply GREAT :D
It's green, but it has also a strong blue side, look at the cap swatches.

Bottle appearance it's pure green in real life (like the left swatch), but pictures captured more of the blue you can actually see, don't know why :D
Anyway: COOL.

Ok, let's change brands.
A while ago, Shaka released a collection which you can surely recognize as inspired by something else well known...
Being Shaka distribution a true disaster, almost no-one saw them in real life, I only eyed  CH2 "Purple", and CH3 "Emerald", which I bought.

On the right, another Astra Holo, n. 708 ♥
They're both super-pigmented; "Emerald" isn't the most original green-teal-goldish reflects you can find on the market, but we're sick, and we buy things we like in multiples :D

Last two brands (with swatches!), Rimmel and Catrice.
"Rock Royalty" by Rimmel is darker and deeper, has some purple sides and a beautiful shimmer I can't define at this moment :D (looks pink...)

Actual awesomeness is the left Catrice shade, a new one: "Steel My Heart".

Nailpolish bottle cap says this colour has a "brushed metal effect", and you can see from the cap swatch that it's true: "Steel My Heart" is a mat bronze metal nailpolish, honestly I've never seen a finish like that and I like it very much!
Two coats on the cap without top coat.
Maybe it recalls the OPI suede finish? I don't know, I don't own any of them, but this is GREAT, you can notice the colours of shimmer, blue, purple, green, pink...
I bet it'll be stunning with top coat!
BUY IT, if you can.

If I remember correctly, there's at least another "brushed metal effect", more on the blue side, but it was a little too grey for my tastes...

Last Catrice, a gold one, "Oh My Goldness!"

Yes, I bought a true gold, but, hey, this is molten gold in a nailpolish bottle.
Swatches show the shimmer, this varnish is a clear base with micro gold shimmers, VERY shiny, rich and precious.

Uff, what a marathon, if you read all this post, you really like me :D

Kiko - n. 291 + Sinful Colors - Nail Junkie + Mi-Ny - Top5 Violet

| | Comments: (9)

Ok, this is the experiment I told you in the previous post: a sponged-gradiented manicure :D

(daylight)

When I got one of these Mi-Ny Top5 I just couldn't resist trying it, so I tried a thing...

(daylight)

Base is Kiko n. 291, tips are sponged (and patted) with Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie" ( ♥ ), then I applied Top5 "Violet" to make a gradient...
INFINITE job :D
I applied it like this:

- 5 coats on my thumbs;
- 4 on my pointers;
- 3 on my middle fingers;
- 2 on my ring fingers;
- no Top5 on my pinkies.

Finished all with Essence Better Than Gel Nails top coat.

(upper: indoor, shade; lower: outdoor daylight)

Honestly, I was hoping in a better result, more visible, but I think these glassy coloured top coats are meant for lightest bases, in order to show well the gradient...

(artificial light)

If you look carefully, you'll notice that thumb is darker than the pinkie (check out below pic), but I really liked how Top5 transformed "Nail Junkie", look, is bluer and deeper :>
I loved the colours and the final result.

(semi-sun light?)

I guess next time I'll try it directly on glittery colours, or foils, I'll get interesting effects :>

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

End of summer, start of autumn new adds

| | Comments: (8)

Little number on the left keeps increasing, who knows why?

On to the new adds! (there are more coming, to be honest...)

Clockwise:

- Essence Colour&Change "Unexpected Galaxy": this is one of those nailpolishes which changes thanks to top coat (it works also with just clear nail polish) and the only colour I liked. Foily foil purple, more cool than warm;

- Essence "Chic Reloaded", most expected by me from the new Colour&Go range :D Really deep duochrome, NOT a dupe of "Where's The Party?", we'll see that later;

- Sinful Colors "Cinderella": ahhhhhh, some new SC arrived here in Italy, price has been lowered under €4, and I found this gem which I really liked after seeing it on many many other blogs <3

- and... Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie", which I know it's an old shade for US girls, but finally I was able to find it here!

- Essence "Oh My Glitter!", you've probably already seen it swatched here and there, very beautiful lilac purple with pink, blue and gold micro-chunks *_*

Below the comparison between "Where's The Party?" and "Chic Reloaded".
You can easily notice that they're really different, and shift one the colour of the other :D

When one is green, the other one is purple and vice-versa :D

Next, some italian stars.
As long as I hate Pupa prices, I gave up in front of the China Doll collection, and bought four out of six colours (I left a nanny pearl pink and an orangey red).

Must admit that these colours aren't the most original (the deep red is seen also under Misa, OPI, and others I don't even remember...), but, just look at the deepness °_°

From top: n. 619, n. 410 (it's a true purple in real life, not that blue), n. 732, n. 731.

They're like jewels, colours are so intense I think they're all one coater :>

Below, a comparison with another italian gem I bought some time ago.
This is Shaka "Deep Passion" on the right:

I thought they were dupes, and technically they are, just in different concentrations: Pupa has more shimmer, so it's more pigmented, while Shaka is more sheer, but also more blue, which is a plus for me :D
Two beauties *________*

H&M buyings: "Free Your Mind", blue with purply-lilac and silver shimmer or micro-glitters, and "New Moon", gold flakies top coat.

One word about those new real silver and gold top coats: I think they're a huge waste of money, and I can't believe some girls go "oooohhh" and "aaahhhh" over these, are they so stupid? You pay too much for a nailpolish, put real gold on your nails and then remove it after few days and throw it away? Let me say: LOL

Marketing is so powerful, they would even be able to make girls buy a nailpolish made out of po*p, if only they wanted to.

Sorry for anyone who will get offended, I know I'm sometimes grumpy and rude, but I just can't stand these... things.

Last new essence I liked: "Crack Me! Pearly Pink", which is a glitter crack nailpolish, but it's not pearl and it's not really pink, more fuchsia...
Infact, in real life colour is MUCH more intense.

Frankenpolish - lilac/duochrome/holo

| | Comments: (4)

Hi all :>

This time, a franken of mine, better: a FAIL of mine...

Remember this post, when I received half of a bottle of "Let Me Go" by Sinful Colors? I wanted it because I liked it in the bottle :D, but I also always read terribile reviews about it: it's straky, FROSTY, too much sheer... So I immediately thought: what if I add some scoops of Specktraflair holo pigment?

(artificial light)

Well, I got a little fail :D
Infact, frostiness remained, which is the worst side of this nailpolish...
I layered, I think, two coats over two coats of Essie's "Lilacism", and I didn't like this result AT ALL, I removed all after taking these pictures, almost never happened to me before :D

(artificial light)

Maybe it looks better from pictures, and someone may like it, but I don't think I'll wear it again, see that green frost reflection? >.<

(natural light)

All in all, colour it's not that bad, but I thought the holo pigment would have dulled the frost side of "Let Me Go"...
I was WRONG :D

(natural light - and horrible cuticles >.< )

* bleah *

New March things... Again, pt. 3 °________°

| | Comments: (4)

And now, the third episode of my shopping suggestions :D

As you know, Essence renewed its collection and made a lot of great products this spring.
As soon as I stumbled accross an updated stand, I grabbed all the items I was interested in which I spotted previously on other blogs:

These are almost €20 of beauty items (an eyeshadow brush too over there) :>
While taking pictures of all of them, I realized I lost that lilac bottle in the foreground (n. 97?), I don't know where it is.

Anyway, here they are:

From left: "A Lovely Secret", lilac with pink shimmer (one of the most original shades of this season from Essence), "Gold Fever" (not a me colour, but I liked the small dark gold glitter, even if there are some red too :D ), "Passion For Fashion" (dupe of Kiko n. 333, oh well -.-)
The lacking lilac (lol) I guess is another dupe of another lilac Kiko I bought in the past... Maybe n. 338?

Next, we have the new (for Essence, duo polishes are as old as Methuselah) duo-trio Nail Colour³.
I picked them just for the shades you see in the picture below:

From top to bottom: the chunked-flakies-in-a-raspberry-syrup-base "Party All Night Long" (name of the duo: n. 02 "Shopping Trip In Soho"): how beautiful? To the naked eye i'ts brighter and pink-er, not as dark, but it's way different from "Princessorize", which is a HOT pink base.
Othe half is a Barbie pink with a Barbie pink shimmer >.<

In the middle, I tried to show you the stunning shimmer of "Ticket To The Show" (same name of the duo, n. 06); balck base with multicoloured shimmer, I hope it will show well on nails :>
Other half is something very similar to a Fontana Contarini one, the second from the left you can see here. Or a lighter version of "Gold Old Buffy"? I think you get it.

Last, probably a dupe of  Nfu-Oh n. 52, which is my favourite Nfu-Oh even if I don't have it :D So, when I saw these 4ml of  beauty, I fell in love istantly. It's called "City That Never Sleeps" and it's the duo n. 01, "midnight Date"; I have to say the other half of this duo ("Midnight Date") is great too, as it's a saturated dark blue with subtly duochrome shimmer. ♥

Finally, flakies top coat arrived in Italy too, so I picked it, useless to point that out :D

Next, Kiko released its summer collection (even if we have autumn right now, to be honest), you can see it here, but I have to say that polishes aren' that great, for me at least, you know why...
BUT there's a blue, and I can' resist it:

Kiko called these "duochromes", I think these are sure "chromes", not always "duo" :D
This blue, n. 398, is a dark indigo chrome blue with almost black edges and a subtle purple side - I don't think it will show on nails...
I wanna warn you it's a little on the sheer side (I guess three coats at least, we'll see it later), but I don't have anything like that and probably tomorrow I will find the most pigmented blue-with-dark-edges by another brand, but who cares :D

Last, my Swiss-nailpolish-partner Lisa got me two of the "new" Catrice top coats, together with a couple of little cute things :>

Top part of the picture, from left: C05 "Return Of Space Cowboys", gunmetal base filled with colour-changing micro-chunkies-glitters ♥ ♥ and a bottle of Sinful Colors "Let Me Go", which I always wanted, but always read as well about its terrible quality; since she had it for swap, I decided to take it for frankening purpose, let's see if I'll get something good out of it :D

Bottom part of picture, from left: Lisa made me a surprise present and included in the packet one of the new Deborah Scarabèe n. 70 "Twinkle Star", a champagne metal-chrome with a blue-green side - see the swatch here by Stregalice - thank you!
On the right, C06 "Godfather Of Pearl", a stunning mix of lighter micro-chunkies-glitters in a semi-milky base; I noticed that glitters are almost the same of  "Return Of Space Cowboys", but they surely contain something more, like tiny silver glitters which make "Godfather Of Pearl" lighter and a little more luminous.

Will these top coats arrive in Italy too? I still don't know, that's why I asked Lisa to get me them, as we say: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure :D

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

Sinful Colors - Dream On

| | Comments: (6)

Sinful Colors, why are you so expensive in Italy?
€4,90, but I always wanted this magic purple, so finally I bought it.

And I'm glad I did it!

WARNING: this is NOT as you see here, it's much more dark and BRIGHT, and you won't find a true-to-reality picture on the web, I can swear it :D

My best picture of "Dream On" is the next one, taken in artificial light, so, again, colour it's not really this one...

"Dream On" it's not so pink, not so cool, not so light... I don't know how to describe it, please see it with your own eyes :D
In general, I can say it's the same colour of some species of Bouganvillea, VERY bright, I always liked those flowers (ok, they're not flowers, they're leaves, but that's ok :D).

It's a true neon purple nailpolish, so it dries absolutely matte and in few nanoseconds -.-
I applied three coats.

See how much it's glossy? Here I topped it with the Better Than Gel Nails top coat from Essence: GREAT glossiness, but after two three days my naisl were already chipped a little...
I must say they remained glossy after one week too, an effect I don't get with regular clear nailpolish.
Oh well, I'm curious to use that top coat on top of glittery and sparkly things :D

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

Kiko - n. 344 + Sinful Colors - Hottie + OPI - Significant Other Color

| | Comments: (11)

Hi all :>
Here you have my last try on layerings, not bad at all, I think.
As you can read from title, I layered two more polishes on this Kiko, because I wanted a less simple look.

Full sun:

"Hottie" (one coat) gave sparkles and "SOC" (one coat) gave the green shimmer.
Daylight:

The characters:

I like it even in shade, and you can see the texture of "Hottie", seriously it has glitters of all shapes, even iridescent chunks, I like it.

Only flaw it's density: it's so full of sparkling stuff that its consistency is like glue, maybe I'll add some drops of thinner next time...

Shade:

"SOC" changes colour depending on the angle, it's a VERY nice green-pink duochrome!

... But beware of your own nails :D -.-°

EDIT about wear: this is a combo of three polishes, but it stayed perfect for three days about; today is the fourth day and I got two chips on thumbs, but other nails have just a little wear on tip, so... Good for me :>

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

Unstoppable!

| | Comments: (11)

I'm talking about me buying little bottles... And I reached 200 of them! :D

First two: Revlon "Royal" and Deborah "Rainbow Blazer":

No, I didn't retouch pictures or anything, nor is the blue a reflection from "Royal",
rainbow is REALLY that visible!

Finally I caved and bought the other Deborah I liked (here's the first post about these new Deborah).
Nice, don't you find? Lower part of picture shows the base colour, it's like a reddish chocolate brown - definitely NOT my colour, but I can't resist to multichromes (or iridescent?) shades, so due to the fact it's pretty sheer too, I think I'll use it for layerings :>

About Revlon "Royal", you already know it, if you own it...
If you don't have it yet, it's THE royal blue jelly polish, a shade I'm literally IN LOVE, and you can see it from the next picture, where I compared the other two pure blue jellies I own:

From left: Layla Ceramic Effect n. 13; Layla Bijou n. 208 and Revlon "Royal".

They're absolutely the same polish, lol; n. 208 is a tad lighter probably just because I applied less liquid, but I can swear they're dupes.
Do you think I do care about that? No, and that's why I bought "Royal", I wanted a good supply of blue jelly!

Only flaw of "Royal" was that I had to pay customs fee - €11, mortacci loro(*).
It happened too when I bought "Mint Apple" by Sinful Colors (I had to pay €14, if I don't get wrong :^[ ), but regardless of that, Sinful Colors started selling polishes in Italy right after my purchase, at €4,90 each...
Luck isn't my best friend, I guess.

Bud did I say Sinful Colors?
Monday I made a trip to my local mine of Essences, and I found they had SC display too! I searched for "Daddy's Girl", instead I found - and liked and bought - "Hottie", a gorgeous cooold blue jelly with glitters of all shapes.
Did you already think about layering it over one of those blue jelly? I did!

Together with "Hottie", I decided to try a crack polish - obviously dark blue - so when I saw the new crack-polishes collection by Debby, the young division of Deborah, I picked n. 01, but there was a turquoise too, a mint, a yellow, a pink, etc.
Lately they expanded their range of colours, but I'm not very fond of them, don't know why well... Maybe I'm just trying to contain myself, they're usually €4,90 each for 7,5 ml, but this time I paid €3,90.

Have a nice day/night/whatever and thanks for your attention ;¬)

(*) colorful expression from modern Roman dialect where you insult a person by insulting his/her dead relatives' souls :^D
