Some new Kiko nailpolishes swatches

This is kinda service post :D

New Kiko shades finally arrived in stores, we now have Mirrors, SugarMat and the colours of the new spring-summer collection.

I just took the chance and swatched some of them.
All one thickish coat.

WARNING: if you see cracks or lines in the nailpolish, that's only because it doesn't stick on scotch tape once dried: I got back home and I discovered that many of the swatches fell off the tape and cracked, lol, so I had to re-compose them with tweezers :D
N. 622 cracked in three parts :(

SugarMat are quite interesting, but I only liked the glittery versions, because of their deepness: cremes are boring and look awful to me :^[

Mirrors aren't for me at all, but I thought they could have been useful for someone out there :>

N. 423 and 424 are from Colours of The World collection.

They're both just my cup of tea, but I only picked the blue one - so far :D

It's great: blue-tealish base and blue-pink-purple particles/chunkies, not common glitters, very nice one!

EDIT: I tried adding a layer of top coat over some SugarMat, and they literally melted like plastic on fire :D

Miscellaneous

Nail polish number continues increasing...
While I decide if it's a bad or a good thing, here there are the newest buyings:

1) Pure Ice "Heartbreaker"... Yessss, long time lemming, I found it on eBay, it came from USA and, last but not least, I didn't have to struggle with customs! :D

2) Barbara Daly (for Tesco) nail polish, no name or number found, except for a "denim" on the back.
Another eBay find: did you ever search for a non specific brand on eBay? I do, sometimes; I type something like "blue polish/varnish" (or green, or purple) and see what eBay lists.
Most of the times I don't win the auction, lol, but this time I did, and this colour looks promising: is a dusty lavender/light blue - a little pearled - with tiny pink/bronze microflecks, I'll show it better when I'll wear it :>
Little bottle (7ml), but a nice colour indeed.

Then, suddenly Catrice appeared in Milan too for our (my) joy, and I found the last "Dirty Berry" in the stand ^_^

EDIT about the holo dust: I want to warn you that seller of that dust increased price per gram :^/
I paid $14 plus $5 for international shipping, now it's $22 AND $9... I'm wondering how many girls of us searched for this pigment right after reading the post on My Lucid Bubble and bought it :D
Business is business, but what a rip-off :^(

Renewed Burt's Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter

I bought my first tin of Burt's Bees last year, and after almost exactly one year I'm running out of it, so I got another one, and I discovered that they changed its formula, primarily thanks to the smell: it isn't so lemony anymore, but sweeter and sugary... Not for me at all.

Tin's design too it's a little different (new version on the bottom), it's sturder and it closes a little easier than before.


Ingredients of previous version were:

Sweet almond oil, beeswax, lemon oil, cocoa butter, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), candelilla wax, sunflower oil, rosemary leaf oil, tocopherol (vitamin e), beta carotene, vegetable oil.

New version has a couple more ingredients, but clearly proportions of them have been rethinked, because smell it's noticeable different:


Nothing bad, I suppose, they're all natural components as always; but I liked the lemon scent so much, too bad :>

About pictures' stealing

Lately I'm reading many posts on several blogs about these fake-blogs which consist just in stealed content, both pictures AND text.

I know that my blog has a limited audience, so that my thoughts aren't as useful as they would be, but I want to express them anyway: I really don't understand why people want to protect their own work without putting any "shield" on it.
I mean, good of internet is how easy and fast information runs between space and time, but there's obviously a downside: objects of web can be easily taken, and now we all know this well, right?

So what's the point in getting angry when you see your "naked" pics in other blogs? To me, "naked" means without any signature, but if you don't put signatures on your works, how do you protect them? In which way you can demostrate they're truly yours?

I draw and paint, but I would never leave a work of mine without my name; same thing with my pics, especially if I decide to publish it on a website!
It's right and good complaining about steals, but authors have to protect their work; it's like complaining about getting flu and fever after a walk naked in the street when it's snowing :D

I read many girls who don't like watermarks: I don't understand it!
They aren't that bad, c'mon: there are so many choises of fonts, colours, dimensions... You can choose EVERYTHING And I think that a signature doesn't require so much time, we are talking about your pictures!

Depending on your editing software, I guess there are many ways to apply watermark you made on your pictures in seconds - for example, in Photoshop you can record a sequence of commands, so you can build your signature step by step, record them, and then apply them in order to sign your picture simply pushing "play", or you can save your signature on a trasparent layer, then open it and apply it on picture, etc...

Enough talking, you get the point.
Mark your work and you'll avoid stealing; if that happens anyway, don't complain, stealing is the louder admiration :D :^)

Looong nails

Surfing the web - again - I came accross this site, which is devoted to extreme lenght for nails, on hands and toes.

Sure that everybody choose their own style, and I'm happy if those womens are able to do anything they like without problems, but I still don't get how nails like these could be sexy:


They're fake, different from each other and the shape... C'mon, it's like having shoehorns on your fingers.
Take a look, some toenails are freakish as well.

I know we have Guinness World Records, and I know what fetishisms are, but still I don't understand how such exaggerations can be considered beautiful and attractive; if nails like these are fake too, I don't even see a merit of wearing them.

What's the point of having a stupid design on your tips? Maybe it's just a cultural lack of mine - or maybe it's not mine.

Polish colours, car paint and... men

We all know that nail polish used to have the same formula of car paint, right? Today they still have so much in common, beside the fact that cosmetic industries are trying to delete and/or substitute toxic ingredients. Good for us.

I like to look for strange colour pictures (of cars, animals, clothes, etc.), and years ago I discovered TVR, an English car company whose cars are often painted with terrific shades.
So I was browsing web in search of interesting car pictures, and I stumbled accross forums of car-modding: I just noticed that men are EXACTLY like us when we talk about nail polish :^D

I mean, you can find the ones with classic taste colour - in this case: racing orange or yellow or even red paints; then we have the majority, who likes blue, and finally there are men who literally drool over unusual shades, heart-shaped eyes emoticons included too, * lol *

I stole images from these forums, where you can spy them acting just like us on colours, shades, finishes, sun or no-sun pics, macro shots, shimmer (even if they call them flakies)... And nail, sorry: car art too! Look at this:

Light up your nails!

As usual, surfing on the web may lead you towards strange things.
Now I'm introducing you the LED nail polish bottles:




Did you ever see one of those? I noticed it's pretty diffused on chinese and taiwanese market, especially sold empty in various size lots.
I don't really understand in which occasion those bottles would help women - maybe when you're camping, in a tent?
Would you ever dare to apply nailpolish during nighttime just with the light of a LED? I wouldn't! :¬D

Bad articles

Browsing sites randomly (in italian), I came across some pages about polish methods of application, choice of colours, tips and everything else about nails, which I think they're totally wrong and pointless.

I then purposely search for these kind of articles, and I found out several of them really useless: first, they often copy each other, and says the very same thing; second, they're still full of commonplaces and advices which aren't valid at all, or oldfashioned.
Let's see some example.

• Many sites (or all) say that if you have a warm complexion - or tanned -, you should wear warm colours, such as oranges and reds: I think it's the opposite, because teals, greens and blues are in front of warm shades in the colour wheel, and this is THE basic colour theory...
I usually have an olive tint in my skin, and I tend to wear cold colours not only because I like them more, but because they don't underline the yellowish side of my skin - yellows, yellowed greens, reds are not my thing!

• Another crazy advice I found out: some sites suggest to paint your nails starting from the tip to the root: I really don't even know how to proceed like this without causing a BIG mess on nails!
And I don't know why they're suggesting it while using dark colours...

• One site says it's «useless to apply a third coat of polish»: but... Why? :D It obviously depends on the sheernes of polish...

• MANY site alert about the danger of staining only of the orange polishes: but common experience tells us that blues and greens too (or, especially) are inclined to that.

• Then, you can even find the most popular legend about nails: they need to breathe!!11! Nothing more wrong about them; they aren't supplied by blood and nerves, so there's no need to give them a "rest" every now and then, it's up to you to wear your tips naked or not.

• Another sick advice: shake well your bottle, in order to avoid air bubbles! Mmmh, that's the opposite: you have to GENTLY shake it, or, better, roll between the hands, OR wait minutes after shaking the bottles (to let air bubbles pop and disappear), otherwise polish will transfer air bubbles on your nail when you apply it.

• I found just ONE thing in these articles that I approve and it's part of my current manicure routine, but I will talk about that in the next future...


In conclusion, I see that these sites definitely don't deserve attention; I don't know if the majority of foreign sites are like this, or it's just a lack of "nailpolish-culture" here in Italy, but I've learned so much from reading blogs of REAL girls, who try and swatch and write about their own REAL experience, correct information is never copied!
